POSITION SUMMARY:
This role provides an opportunity for the conservation and reclamation group to complete exciting and dynamic projects throughout western Canada. The ideal candidate has strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills to support Ecoventure’s growth and development. The project work is centred mainly in Alberta, and the position will require extended travel to remote work sites.
The selected candidate will be instrumental in executing Ecoventure’s project delivery system to achieve the following project delivery strategic objectives: health and safety, client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget, financial performance for project-specific targets, operational performance and business unit expectations, and quality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in the following areas:

Technical
▪ A strong understanding and focus on health and safety in the workplace.
▪ Extensive experience with soil classification, surveys, and soil monitoring/handling during construction operations and heavy equipment.
▪ Various types of fieldwork include land and soil classification and surveys, test pitting programs, reclamation, erosion and sediment control, environmental monitoring, and vegetation management.
▪ Subcontractor and field staff management.
▪ Collecting accurate field data using best management practices and following standard operating procedures.
▪ Support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution, including coordinating and procuring project supplies and subcontractor services.
▪ Preparation and execution of technical reports.
▪ Mentorship and training of new and junior staff.
▪ Travel within Alberta and potentially British Columbia.

Project Management
▪ Resource management and project staff allocation.
▪ Project budget, logistics, and schedule management and reporting.
▪ Proposal and program preparation and cost estimating.
▪ Assist in business development.
▪ Uphold Ecoventure’s Quality Management System; and
▪ Uphold Ecoventure’s strong commitment to the Health and Safety Program, representing Ecoventure in conferences and industry seminars and liaising with all stakeholders’ levels.

This position will allow the successful candidate to work with a diverse and experienced team. The role offers involvement in all aspects of projects from start to finish.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following competencies and experience:
▪ Bachelor’s degree or diploma specializing in soil science, natural resources management or environmental sciences appropriate to the work description.
▪ Currently holds a professional designation as P.Ag., P.Biol., P.Eng., or R.T.Ag.
▪ 4-7+ years of practical experience in the execution of construction and reclamation in the oil and gas industry in western Canada.
▪ Must be proficient in soil classification, mapping, and monitoring/handling during construction operations.
▪ Strong vegetation identification skills and understanding of vegetation establishment, control methods, and
prescription/implementation.
▪ Experience and understanding of erosion and sediment control, from assessment and planning to execution and supervision.
▪ Strong communication skills to interact with clients, regulators, First Nations, and other stakeholders.
▪ Experience supervising project construction activities, environmental monitoring, and audits, effectively reporting field observations and deficiencies, and verifying the effective implementation of best management practices as outlined in the Conservation and Reclamation Plans, Environmental Protection Plans, and EPEA approval requirements.
▪ Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and conflict
management skills, as well as assisting in coordinating, analyzing, and synthesizing information to develop innovative solutions to problems, working with people and advising others.
▪ Strong understanding of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and GIS Software.
▪ Excellent attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
▪ H2S, First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance Level II, ATV Training, and a clean driving record are required for this position.
▪ Strong interpersonal skills and experience with vendor, client, and stakeholder interactions.
