Executive Director

Erin Ciezki, BA

Erin Ciezki is the Executive Director of the Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA). She previously served as Manager of Strategic Relations, where she played a key role in strengthening industry partnerships and advancing the association’s work.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Business from Athabasca University and a Bilingual Business diploma from NAIT. She brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate and property management, along with over a decade working with the Alberta Water and Wastewater Operators Association and the Canada Revenue Agency. This diverse background gives her a well-rounded and practical perspective in supporting ESAA and its members.

 

As Executive Director, Erin is responsible for the overall management of ESAA, leading the delivery of all association events, and fostering strong relationships with both existing and prospective members.

Office Manager

Janelle Byma

Janelle Byma serves as the Office Manager for ESAA. She brings over 20 years of experience in accounting, management, and coordination across multiple industries, giving her a strong cross-sector understanding of organizational processes and operations.

Janelle has been with ESAA for more than 18 years, during which time she has held a variety of roles and developed extensive institutional knowledge of the association.

In her current role, Janelle supports ESAA’s day-to-day operations, manages accounting functions, and assists with both membership services and event coordination.

Events Manager

Heather Harcott

Heather Harcott is the Event Manager for ESAA, bringing over 15 years of experience in event management and execution. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta and a Public Relations Diploma from MacEwan University, combining strategic communication skills with hands-on event expertise.

In her role, she oversees the planning and delivery of ESAA events, managing logistics, timelines, and stakeholder coordination to ensure seamless execution.

Events Manager

Jennifer Pettie

Jennifer Pettie is a member of the RemTech planning team. She holds a degree in Health Sciences with a minor in Communications from Simon Fraser University. Jennifer brings over 10 years of experience in event planning and execution across a range of sectors, including environmental, engineering, and real estate.
 
Jennifer has been part of the RemTech team for five years, having previously worked in registration before moving into a broader planning role. 
 

Special Advisor

Joe Chowaniec, BSc

Joe Chowaniec is a special advisor for the Environmental Services Association of Alberta.  Joe previously served as the executive director.  Joe has over 32 years experience with ESAA and has held many roles in the organization throughout his tenure.  His main responsibilities is the successful delivery of ESAA’s flagship conference – RemTech.

Joe has a Bachelor of Science (Specialized Physics) and a Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering) both from the University of Alberta

Joe is an avid traveller, loves spending time outdoors with nature, his wife Rami and their dog.  You can pretty much guaranteed that no matter where he goes, there will be a camera with him.  Joe is an amateur photographer, whose passion for nature comes out in his photographs.
