POSITION SUMMARY:
This Junior Environmental Consultant role in our Edmonton Office provides opportunities to assist with the assessment and remediation group’s assessment and remediation projects for oil and gas facilities, landfills, industrial land, and defence sites. Organizational and communication skills are key considerations for this position, and technical on-the-job training is provided. The project work is centred mainly in Alberta, and the position will require travel and work at remote work sites across the province.

The successful candidate can participate in and support all aspects of projects from start to finish and learn from a dedicated team of professionals.:

Opportunity to support and participate in field-based work, including:
• Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
• Groundwater Monitoring
• Spill Response
• Remediation programs
• Liability Assessments
• Phase 1 ESA site inspections
• Vegetation assessment and management programs
• Detailed Site Assessment and Reclamation Certificate Applications
• Surface reclamation
• Preparation of associated reports for senior review

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following competencies and experience:
• Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in natural resource management or environmental sciences
• Eligible for professional designation as P.Eng, P.Ag, P.Biol., P.Chem, P.Eng. or R.T.Ag
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and conflict management skills
• Practical experience in environmental site assessment, remediation, and/or reclamation in the oil and gas industry is an asset
• Understanding the oil and gas life cycle and environmental regulatory requirements in Alberta is an asset
• Experience and understanding of the field work required, as well as the ability to work out of town, sometimes in remote environments and in all weather conditions.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
• Strong understanding of computer programs such as Microsoft Suite of products and Adobe Acrobat
• Valid Drivers licence
• Current safety, H2S, First AID, CSO, Ground Disturbance Level II, and ATV Training are assets.
