Sustainability Manager

SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior level sustainability professional to join the Corporate Services Division as a Sustainability Manager (Competition #21-12-0488) with a primary focus on providing sustainability consulting services. The individual will be multifaceted and self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A standout colleague is willing to share knowledge, experience, and ideas. This is a full-time position based out of our Calgary, AB office. Candidates located elsewhere may be considered.
Due to the current and evolving COVID-19 health restrictions, you may be required to work from a home office.

The successful candidate will empower change, working collaboratively within the organization’s short and long term strategic initiatives. The Sustainability Manager will be supported by a team of collaborative professionals and entrusted to develop and implement a sustainability service line.

Job Duties:
You will carry out your duties in consultation with a Corporate Services Manager. The primary duties include but are not limited to:
• Development and management of our sustainability service line including sustainability reporting, advising, and strategy development
• Project planning, coordination, and management
• Supervision of office staff as required
• Data interpretation, analysis, and reporting
• Budget preparation and control
• Maintenance of client relationships
• Regulatory and third-party stakeholder and rights holder interactions
• Participation in company and client specific health and safety programs
• Business development

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Geologists, Biologists, Chemists, and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development, and health and safety professionals, and an in-house IT department.

Qualifications:
• University degree from a recognized institution with a specialty in sustainability or other related discipline
• Extensive experience in sustainability reporting, strategy, and/or management
• Five plus years of consulting or industry experience in sustainability or a relevant field
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present concepts and ideas to clients and project team members
• Proficient in using various software(s) including but not limited to; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project team environment
• Self-starter with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills

The following are considered an asset
• Proficient in using various software(s) including but not limited to; ESG data management software and Adobe Illustrator
• Familiarity with carbon markets, offsets, and/or emissions measurement and reporting would be an asset
• Familiarity with renewable energy projects and Alberta regulations
• Experience conducting Indigenous relations or connections with Indigenous communities within Western Canada
