Are you looking to…

• Manage complex salt impacted projects across Western Canada, using various regulatory approaches
• Work with a state-of-the-art groundwater modelling team to help predict risk to receptors of concern
• Develop and manage effective strategies and solutions while working with multi-disciplinary teams
• Participate in industry-funded research and initiatives
• Interpret data to develop innovative management approaches for salt impacted sites
• Collaborate with and be mentored by other salinity specialists

As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will join one of our Western Canada offices as part of our growing Assessment, Remediation, and Reclamation (ARR) team. The successful applicant will be involved in projects with the management of salt-impacted sites with responsibilities as follows:

• Active participation in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture
• Lead complex site assessments
• Supervise junior staff and sub-contractors
• Prepare technical correspondence, formal reports, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates
• Work with senior technical advisors to ensure high quality products that meet our clients’ unique project needs
• Communicate and liaise with clients and project-related stakeholders
• Act as a leader in the workplace using Matrix Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures
• Function effectively as part of a collaborative team

What We Are Looking For
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing assessment, remediation and reclamation projects for Oil and Gas clients within a consulting environment
• Experience with managing complex salt-impacted sites
• Understanding of regulatory guidelines and framework in Western Canada, including experience using the Subsoil Salinity Tool (SST)
• A degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering
• Eligibility for registration in, or maintaining a good standing in, a professional organization
• Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to provide technical direction and mentorship to more junior professionals
• Experience writing technical reports
• A valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions.
