Intermediate to Senior Environmental Consultant for Contaminated Sites

EBM is hiring an Intermediate to Senior Environmental Consultant specializing in to contaminated site assessment. The ideal candidate has at least three (intermediate) to ten (senior) plus years of direct or related experience and a background in environmental sciences.

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
– Reviewing historical environmental reports
– Interpreting and analyzing soil and groundwater data
– Reviewing and creating site investigation and remedial plans
– Developing risk-based guidelines within Alberta’s regulatory framework
– Writing and editing Phase 2 and 3 ESA reports
– Coordinating and communicating with field personnel
– Various project management tasks.
Additional responsibilities include planning and managing Phase 2 ESA, groundwater monitoring, and remediation projects. Also, the preparation of site figures, analytical tables, borehole logs, cross-sections and regulatory submissions on OneStop.

Additional expertise in ecotoxicology, hydrogeology, soil science, contaminant chemistry or related disciplines is an asset. Candidates should also be comfortable working with numerical data (e.g. soil and groundwater chemistry) to develop risk-based guidelines. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills are essential.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental sciences, biology, toxicology, or a related field
– Eligibility for professional membership in one of Alberta’s six regulated professions (please specify if possible)
– Three (intermediate) or ten (senior) plus years of experience in contaminated site assessment and environmental risk assessment
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn 3D modelling Software, Surfer or similar
– Strong writing and communication skills
– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Work Arrangements
EBM is based in Calgary, Alberta, but remote work options are available depending on experience. Full-time, part-time, and contractual arrangements are possible.
