Job Description:

The Parsons Calgary Office is actively seeking an intermediate Environmental Scientist or Engineer with 4+ years of progressive and diverse experience to join our technical services team in the Canadian Environmental Department. You will leverage your knowledge of salinity impacts to directly support environmental project work as it relates to site assessment, risk assessment/management and remediation of impacted sites in western and/or northern Canada.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Development of innovative assessment and management approaches for salt impacted sites
Development and updating of clear and concise conceptual site models and environmental impact assessments for contaminated sites
Preparation of technical correspondence, formal reports, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates
Assessment of work against standards, objectives and specifications to ensure quality of work outputs to our clients
Collaboration with other salinity specialists
Communication and liaison with clients and project-related stakeholders
The successful candidate will have a strong sense of self-motivation towards assigned projects, the ability to balance work on multiple tasks, and proven ability as a team player. Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communications skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

4-year degree in Science, Engineering or other directly related discipline
4+ years of relevant experience, including co-op or post-graduate research experience
Eligibility for registration in, or maintaining a good standing in, a professional organization
Understanding of regulatory guidelines and framework in Alberta
Experience with managing salt-impacted sites
Experience using the Subsoil Salinity Tool (SST)
Experience writing technical reports, proposals and conceptual site models
It is an asset to have experience with:

Other regulatory environmental guidelines and frameworks (CCME, BC, SK, ON, NWT)
Experience with petroleum hydrocarbon and fertilizer impacted sites
Relational databases (MS Access, EQuIS)
ESRI GIS mapping and analysis tools and extension
