Environmental Scientist

• Engineering, geological science, or environmental science degree or diploma
• Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., P.Tech., E.I.T., G.I.T., C.E.T., preferred)
• Upstream oil and gas experience an asset, as is experience or interest in a variety of technical disciplines, i.e. ecology
• Ability to work in the field, and take on project management responsibilities
• Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle required for occasional travel to job sites/clients
• Based in Grande Prairie, AB with flexible work options

As our new Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Technologist, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

In this position, you’ll play a key role in successful project completion and ensure the delivery of high-quality work to our clients. You’ll work as field supervisor, collecting and interpreting environmental data to support Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and II ESAs), spill response, and remediation programs, as well as reporting, data analysis and general due diligence works.

You will also:

• Maintain highest level of client satisfaction
• Effectively mentor junior staff in project management/task management skills while at the same time being mentored by more senior professionals
• Provide leadership through open and positive communications with all staff
• Participate in all facets of contaminated site projects including spill response, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and remediation projects, field sampling, and reporting
• Coordinate field (data-collection) programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, vapour and remediation system operation and maintenance

• Ideally 3-5 years of experience in contaminated site assessment including preliminary and detailed environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater sampling, spill response, and remediation programs
• Experience working in the oil and gas sector, including midstream pipeline projects and upstream well sites and facilities
• Experience with various contaminants of concern including hydrocarbons and salinity parameters
• A working knowledge of relevant Alberta and BC regulatory requirements
• Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to subsurface investigations and contaminated sites
• Able to work independently, including ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, geological science, or environmental science
• Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., C.E.T., A.Sc.T preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle required for occasional travel to job sites/clients
