POSITION SUMMARY:
This Environmental Professional / Project Coordinator role in our Calgary or Edmonton Office is an excellent opportunity to assist with high-profile, complex, multidisciplinary assessment and remediation projects. Technical, organizational, and leadership skills are key considerations for this position. The selected candidate will be instrumental in achieving the following project delivery strategic objectives: health and safety, environmental responsibility, client expectations of quality, schedule, and budget; project-specific financial performance targets; project team and field program expectations; operational performance and business unit expectations; and quality.
The position focuses on coordinating and executing compliance monitoring, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, and remediation system design and implementation at a large complex project within Edmonton. The 24-hour facility offers a variety of environmental challenges and activities. Our client is forward-thinking and proactively approaches safety and the environment. This complex project will challenge how you approach environmental assessments and remediations. You will work with a dynamic team of agrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, engineers and technologists dedicated to our client’s ongoing environmental needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing office and field support in the following areas:

Project Coordination
 Managing project flow and uploading documentation in the Company’s ERP system.
 Preparing proposals and cost estimates.
 Conducting subcontractor pre-qualification and management.
 Budget/cost tracking, assist with invoicing and preparing progress reports
 Preparing emergency response plans and health and safety plans.
 Conducting project coordination and logistics.
 Acting as a central point of contact for the field program.
 Scheduling field staff and subcontractors and preparing necessary fieldwork instructions.
 Conducting stakeholder engagement and obtaining proximity and crossing agreements.
 Conducting occasional field work to uphold Ecoventure’s Quality Management System.
 Upholding Ecoventure’s strong commitment to the QHSE Program.
Technical
 Assessment and Remediation focused projects, including:
o Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
o Groundwater/Surface Water Monitoring Envi
o Tier 2 and Site-Specific Risk Assessments
o Soil Monitoring and Management Programs
o Remedial Action Plans
o Remediation system design and implementation
o Risk Management Plans
o Conceptual Site Models
 Conducting occasional field work, including soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment investigations, monitoring programs and overseeing site remediation.
 Working within a project team playing a key role in contaminant assessment and remediation projects.
 Reviewing background information, developing work scopes, supervising field activities, and reviewing and interpreting results.
 Compiling and QA/QC data.
 Supervising the preparation of associated reports and conducting initial technical reviews.
 Supervising and mentoring junior staff in all project aspects, including project management, coordination, technical reporting, and field activities.
 Participating in Ecoventure’s on-the-job training and mentorship programs.
 On an as-needed basis, provide support on Conservation and Reclamation projects.
This position will allow the successful candidate to work with a diverse and experienced team. The role offers involvement in all aspects of projects from start to finish.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following competencies and experience:
 A degree or diploma in an Environmental field
 A member in good standing with a professional organization (APEGA, AIA, ASPB, ACPA, CAPF, ASET) recognized in Alberta.
 5 – 10 years of practical experience in the execution of assessment and remediation projects
 Strong field experience and willingness to mentor in the field on projects as needed
 5 years of environmental consulting experience with experience in project planning or coordinating roles.
 Previous experience with hand or mechanized drilling techniques and soil and groundwater sampling.
 Collection and management of project data to ensure data accuracy and organization
 Strong understanding of the Regulatory framework in Alberta for assessment and remediation work and site closure, including applicable guidelines, application processes, and reporting requirements
 Experience or training courses in Alberta Tier 2, Subsoil Salinity Tool, and/or Risk Assessment are considered assets for this position.
 Knowledge and remediation of methyl tert-butyl ether is considered an asset.
 Current safety, H2S, First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance Level II, and clean driving record are all assets for this position.
 Experience and training in Project Management and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

 Ability to mentor, support and advise others
 Strong understanding of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and GIS Software. Experience with additional software such as AutoCAD, Trimble, Surfer, and Leapfrog and database systems such as Siteview, Petrosight, and FieldShare are considered assets.
