Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and providing oversight of environmental remediation projects from planning through completion. This role oversees a team of environmental specialists and site staff to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.

The successful candidate will combine strong leadership and project management skills with technical expertise in site assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a team of environmental specialists and site personnel involved in remediation.
• Manage all phases of projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, implementation, commissioning and reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure clear communication and timely project execution.
• Review and approve technical reports, data summaries, and regulatory submittals prepared by project staff.
• Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols and technical standards.
• Manage and track project budgets and schedules, prepare progress reports, and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies.
• Foster a high performance, collaborative team culture.
• Ensure all work complies with Alberta regulatory frameworks (e.g., provincial guidelines) and internal QA/QC and Health & Safety standards etc.
• Assist in business development by contributing to proposals, cost estimates, and client presentations as needed.

Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an industrial setting in Canada (Alberta experience preferred).
• At least 10 years of experience managing projects and supervising technical teams.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification preferred.
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, the following safety certifications; Standard First Aid / CPR Certificate, WHIMIS, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance, Industry general safety orientation (eg. CSTS)
Skills, Competencies & Requirements
• Familiarity with Alberta’s environmental regulatory considered an asset.
• Excellent project management skills: scheduling, budgeting, risk management, resource planning, stakeholder coordination.
• Strong leadership, communication (oral & written), negotiation and team building skills.
• Technical writing ability: reporting, commissioning documentation, regulatory submissions.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence (no GDL), with clean abstract, and ability to travel to project sites in Alberta as required.
• Must be capable of passing pre hire drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy.

Working Conditions
• Combination of office and site work.
• Occasional travel to project sites or client meetings may be required.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as needed.
